We all have those days, where nothing goes right and we find ourselves wishing we could have a quick-fix when we're on the go. That's when Jennifer Higgins, founder of Miss Oops, designed the Rescue Sponge - to remove unsightly deodorant marks and make-up stains off her little black dress! Since her first creation, Jennifer has gone to design many other products for those 'Oopsy daisy' kind of days!

I met with Jennifer while she was in Toronto a few weeks ago, and going over the products one-by-one made me realize just how easy and convenient life would be having these items around the house. Not only is the Miss Oops line an essential part of any Makeup Junkie's life, but the woman behind the name is absolutely stunning, herself. With long red hair and big bright green eyes, Jennifer's mannerisms show excitement and courage into her future. Full of personality, you can see that the inspiration to her cute little packaging and products is based upon Jennifer's own outlook on life - fun and practical!

Also, some of the products are actually grouped together in "Critical Care Kits" which makes gift-giving for Christmas, baby shower or as a wedding survival package an essential part of the occasion!

Deodorant marks on your clothes? Make-up powder on your collar? No problem, you’ve got Miss Oops Rescue Sponges. No need to wet your clothes, just briskly rub the dry sponge against the offending mark and watch it disappear. The patent-pending sponge comes two to a pack and are reusable. Safe to use on all fabrics. ($10USD)

Could builders sand furniture with your feet? If so, then Miss Oops Pedicure In a Bottle is your new best friend! Miss Oops Pedicure in a Bottle actually exfoliates, then hydrates your feet. Plus, it’s easy to use! Most exfoliating creams require you to rub the formula on your feet and then wash it off. Not Miss Oops. The exfoliating component is actually absorbed into the skin. Plus, with this non-greasy formula, you can apply it in the morning and wear your shoes without that “slippery-greasy” feeling. The combination of glycolic and salicylic acid, shea butter, peppermint, menthol, and lavender leave your feet feeling smooth and smelling pretty – just like you had a pedicure! Directions: apply twice a day until you can no longer sand furniture with your feet, then use once a day for maintenance. ($18USD)

Jaks is an absolute must for women who are not willing to give up their low-rise jeans and partake in “mom jeans.” Jaks is worn over jeans and under tops—much like a shirt extender. It appears to be a lace camisole layered underneath your shirt- but actually, Jaks is the latest fashion weapon used to cover up butt-crack and muffin tops. Bend over and sit down ladies – Jaks has you covered! ($38USD)

Is your plunging V-neck revealing a little too much at the office? No problem – reach for Miss Oops Boob Tube! Made of stretchable lace, this modern day bandeau gives you just the right amount of coverage without the added bulk of another layer. ($25USD)

Nundies, made of nylon and lycra are the perfect pantyless panty! Simply adhere Nundies to the inseam of your pants in place of wearing an uncomfortable thong or underwear. Ban panty lines and uncomfortable thongs with Nundies. Nundies, the essence of underwear, are disposable and perfect for traveling. ($15USD)

This double-sided apparel tape is perfect for women caught in the midst of a serious fashion mishap! This fabric friendly tape repairs hanging hems, closes gaping blouses, keeps peek-a-boo bra straps in place, and prevents plunging necklines from revealing too much. Miss Oops Mishap Tape is hypoallergenic and is packaged with 36 strips in two widths. So go ahead and wear that daring outfit--Miss Oops has you covered! ($6.99USD)

Popper Stoppers are used to cover belly buttons that go “pop” during pregnancy. Latex-free and medically approved, Popper Stoppers are the perfect choice to cover sensitive bellybuttons or protruding navels that can be seen through your garments. ($13.00USD)

Feeling down? Here’s something to perk you up….Chicken Cutlets by Miss Oops! These silicone breast inserts are perfect to perk your girls up and add some cleavage without going under the knife. Each pair comes in a plastic travel case. Chicken Cutlets will increase your bosom by 1 full cup size. ($28.00USD)

Miss Oops Holiday Kit is just the thing for any girl-on-the-go! Complete with the award-winning Miss Oops Rescue Sponge, travel-size lint roller, and a full set of Miss Oops Mishap Tape, these essentials will save you from any “oops” situation! ($18.00USD)

I asked Jennifer what her hopes for the future of Miss Oops would be, and she wanted to have a Miss Oops for Babies, or Miss Oops for Men. Perhaps even a Miss Oops for Pets, too! Also, her favourite product is the Miss Oops Rescue Sponge, but also admits she's bias since it's her first product!

I, personally, got to try many of the different products available, but by far I truly enjoy the Chicken Cutlets. Beats surgery! :)

Currently, you can buy Miss Oops products online or at many locations across Canada and the United States, where you can check the Miss Oops site for a store near you. At the time of our meeting, Miss Oops is planning to be available in stores like Shopper's Drug Mart, Sephora and The Bay, so let's keep our fingers crossed!

So, we all know that as time goes on, people seem to be more allergic to things. Peanut butter, bees, the list literally goes on. Now, as these allergies become more intense, cosmetics has followed suit in trying to adhere to this demographic. This is where companies like Alima Pure come in.

Simply containing nothing but pigment, Alima allows women to wear beautiful shimmer without the price tag of irritation. Sold at $9 USD, a pod of these beautiful little colours goes on thicker than a typical shimmer shadow.

The pigments are suitable for the Fall and give that extra sense of "I'm wearing eyeshadow, but all you'll notice is my eyes". Perfect for any eye shade. Top Row: Angora (pearl) and Cashmere (black), Bottom Row: Mohair (Fall's pretty pink) and Merino (grey-blue)

If you're an all natural mineral junkie then "be your beautiful self" with Alima Pure!

PlantLove, Cargo's newest line for the eco-friendly and eco-smart. A compostable lipstick case made from corn! This revolutionary bio-plastic is not only made from a renewable resource, it's also greenhouse-gas-neutral, which helps fight global warming.

Besides the innovative packaging and the growing eco-conscious celebrity fan base, the lipstick is a real treat for the lips! Sagamartha ($20USD), a brown-based red, is a rich beautiful shade perfect for autumn or those up-coming holiday parties!

My lips are very dry and when I swiped this lippie across my lips I felt a moisturizing sensation! I feel good about whipping this lipstick out with its cute pink hearts and floral design, for other girls in the public washroom to see.

Who says you can't give back to the environment and look pretty while doing it?

This past weekend was one for the girls. First was the Canadian Makeup Show, which was full of exciting offers, from $3.00 brushes to air brushing seminars galore, oh my!

Moving closer to the core of the city, I hit up the National Women's Show, where I was surprised to see the rows and rows of vendors go on for what seemed like forever. Cut into sections, yogurt and health foods seemed to be a major portion of the show. I had gulped down a year's worth of probiotics in 20 minutes, had 5 servings of pita bread and dip, got shoved along to try a few glasses of wine, along with all the dietitians readily on staff to give recommendations for living a healthier lifestyle.

Next on the agenda was trips, spas, and pamphlets handed out like Halloween candy for a chance to get to talk to women about their financial habits. How the two go hand in hand, I'll never know. I think I've signed up for at least 15 trips, however, happened to land $75 off my next Sunwing vacation! I suppose that's the price you pay to give away personal information.

Then, there was a major section to walk up and get a botox injection, teeth whitening, OR hair extensions. And just a note on that, I am absolutely going to attempt making my own hair extensions, and would like to showcase exactly how I do that, considering I think paying a buck sixty for some strands of hair and 50 cent clips seemes a little bit absurd.

By the time I got to the last row, they were cleaning up shop and I managed to grab some razors from a few firefighters with hot pink suspenders on. That must have been the definite highlight of my evening!

I also ran into the Miss Opps booth, which is going to be a major post coming soon. The women there were fabulous, so we got to catch up. I also caught the infamous Douglas Atkinson at his Sally Hansen booth, who was promoting the lip plumping line from S.H. and doing a fabulous job at that!

Not only did I score 5 pounds of yogurt, 2 chocolate bars, a million pamphlets, and a ton of business cards to boot that day, I also walked away with an Irish Cream mug and a hope to win a few vacations. I learned a lot about what was up and coming on the markets and got to trial a ton of fantastic products.

In the end, the Women's Show is a must to catch for '09, and I can't wait until I have that extra bit of cash to get some real teeth whitening happening at my own convenience. Or perhaps a quick botox??

Man, I feel like a woman! Whoo!

So, I got into my hands some Loose Lips NY items, perfect for fall! Being a dark brunette, I can’t help but love the way red lipstick looks! So classic. However, it’s definitely a look that requires a perfect outfit and the perfect lips...And a perfect liner, so this picture will be a bit weak on the application side. I love red…and Loose Lips NY Red Rush gives me just that…A rush! Purchase Loose Lips with vitamin E and castor oils for $12 (USD). Tres fabulous! Tres cute!

I have also tried Loose Lips NY Eye Shadow in Silver Lining. Now, I am an eyeshadow freak. I feel the texture, I appreciate the grain. I understand that the line is wet/dry, which has a lot to do with the quality of eyeshadow, because you are sacrificing the texture for it to be more flexible as part powder, part cream. However, for $12 (USD) a pod, I believe that this eyeshadow's strength is in its wet application.

Just dab your brush in some water, run it along the shadow and apply. I have an example of both the wet (left) and the dry (right) and the left is far more intense and shimmering! Not only that but the hold is pretty intense!
The colour, “Silver Lining” is a wonderful silver hue, great for Saturday night dancing.

Last but not least, I have the gloss "Fate" and I loved the texture here. Not gummy at all, it went on nice and thick, but the colour was more transparent than I had expected. I like that and since I'm not a lipstick girl, having a nice hint of hue is always great to finish my look! If you want more colour, wear it on top of a lipstick for added depth!

Have you tried Loose Lips NY products? Love them? Hate them?

Ok, I know saying 100% vegan hair products is weird. Who's eating shampoo? But if you're truly serious about being nice to your fine-feathered friends, then why put product on your hair that you know was tested and probably burned off of a baby rabbit.

....That's right. A baby rabbit.

SO! I ended up getting a sample set into my hands of the Jonathan shampoo and conditioner for dehydrated hair (I dye my locks so, yes, they're thirsty). At first, I was used to the foaming of my Herbal Essences, but when I read "sulfate-free" I had to figure that's why there was the lack of foaming agent in Jonathan's product. Strange at first, but nice in the end.

A few days pass, as I squeeze the last of my little product out, and I'm happy to say I really enjoyed the scent and feel of my hair. It actually doesn't frizz on me as much, and I feel really good about not hurting poor little Thumper.

So, Makeup Junkies, looking for an animal-friendly but professional smelling shampoo/conditioner? Head to Sephora and pick a couple up for $20(USD) for the shampoo and $22 (USD) for the conditioner!

The wind is starting to bite at my face, and my lips are becoming sore from the cold! Brrrr!

This time last year, I was whipping out my gross-tasting Chapstick to save my smackers from splitting and pain. Now, Jack Black products are mainly geared for dudes, but don't be fooled! The taste of the sweet ingredients will have both you and your man saying, "Yum!" - And even HE won't be embarrassed by the smooooth packaging!

Ingredients are as listed:
Natural Mint, Shea Butter (butyrospermum Parkii Fruit), Avocado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Leaf Extract, Tocopeheryl Acetate (vitamin E)

So, Makeup Junkies, next time you don't feel like carrying your own lip balm, get your man to carry Jack Black's Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25! Save your puckers..AND your tastebuds!!

As the days are getting darker, and leaves are starting to turn, there are certain smells in the air that can catch you in a memory. I know that the feeling of the warm sun on my face and a cool breeze through my hair can stop me in the middle of the hustle and bustle of being a true Makeup Junkie.

In the spirit of the true autumn season, I spritzed on Tom Ford’s White Patchouli eau de parfum. Although it is a parfum, this one comes in a spray, which I find is nice.
The notes are strong. Wood scented and spicy, this scent danced across my nose in a very intimate way. I am a woman who enjoys the sweeter scents, and although Tom Ford’s fragrance was bold, it was ultimately romantic.

Notes include Coriander, White Peony, and Blonde Woods, but don’t be mistaken - this bottle will be sure to change and adapt to anyone’s body chemicals.

Tom Ford can be found at Holt Renfrew for $165 (CDN) FOR A 50Ml bottle.
Take a little bit of the fall with you, wherever you go.

The first rule in cosmetics, as a true Makeup Junkie, is having a fabulous moisturizer. There is no sense in buying good quality make-up, if the creams and lotions you apply to your skin day and night aren’t working for you.

I was fortunate enough to get into my hands DDF Protect and Correct UV Moisturizer! This beautiful little pump bottle is a fantastic cream. DDF stands for “Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula” and smoothing this rich cream on, I knew that it was protecting my skin from the every day harmful rays of not only the sun shining down on my face, but damage I had done before. This bottle promises to help you save your skin from future discolourations that many women and men face in their older age that may lead to skin cancer and sever skin discrepancies – Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation!

So, ladies, do yourselves a favour - Save your skin before it’s too late. And don’t think that in the winter time you’re free from wearing UVA and UVB screens! Year round, if your face is outside, you should be wearing protection. End of story.

This is a daytime moisturizer, so don’t waste it by using Protect and Correct before bedtime. Apply in the morning, under your make-up.

This bottle retails at $58 (USA) at your local Sephora.

That’s right, Makeup Junkies, long-lasting and crease-free eyeshadow by Origins! Available at The Bay or online for $14 (USD), this brand promotes the marriage of nature and beauty, using high quality ingredients from the land in order to bring you irresistible colours and depth to your eyes!

After spreading it across my hand, and doing the smudge test, I was unable to remove this shadow quickly and easily (this means that the holding power is quite strong, so you don’t look like someone punched you in the eyes by the time lunch rolls around).

To Use: Sweep over your lid, starting at the inner corner, working outward and upward to brow bone. For a more dramatic look, sweep a darker Origins shadow along the crease of the lid.

Last but not least, there is FREE SHIPPING with a $75 purchase, and a Pink Ribbon & Breast Cancer Awareness bookmark with every order!

Thinking Pink, Makeup Junkies!?
